terratec DMX X Fire 1024

I bought this soundcard. Upon driver installation the system (Win 98SE) crashes to a blue screen. The only solution is then to rip the card out, otherwise it crashes after each boot into the GUI immediately.
Of course I used the latest drivers and tried a complete new install of the OS, too.
System: Athlon TB, Epox 8KTA3+, Cardexpert FeForce 2 MX, HD IBM
Onboard sound was disabled.

Any suggestions?

Well now, it seems I have to reply my own topic. Two days and five nervous breakdowns later my soundcard works flawlessly.
The working installation procedure: First I installed the onboard sound, then (leaving onboardsound ON in bios) I put in the DMX XFire and could install all the drivers. Now I had two sounddevices in the hardware manager and disabled the onboard sound here. Might even be possible to use both, but I didn´t try. No problems since, much to the contrary a very nice card with low price. Definitely competition for the SB family. 😛
