First app I've found that, as of last night anyway, was only found on the Amazon market and not the regular one.

Well, I suppose the customers will decide which market they want to go to, but ideally all of the apps would be on the "main" android marketplace.

Truly though, at this point I rarely use the marketplace app.

If you're a fan of obfuscating your clock, I recommend the widget. :D

I suspect the Google Marketplace will remain the Wild West of apps, and the Amazon market will be where the quality apps are found.

It's a really interesting development.

That's the risk when your model is absolutely no moderation of the apps. I understand the point of it, but when there's nothing in the way to filter the apps then you'll get flooded by even more terrible stuff than usual. My worry is that Google will want to start filtering apps and we'll be left with NO open market. The way it is now, with having one properly moderated market place and having another completely unrestricted marketplace is IMO the way it should be. It's odd that Amazon seems to be taking the charge for the "cleaner" marketplace, but that's how it goes I guess.

Theres got to be a middle ground where Google can at least punish the crap by pushing it further down the results.

Anyone know if you are able to view permissions prior to downloading? I started looking around and couldn't find anything.

I should check out the Amazon app store.

Never understood binary/ternary clocks though. Impossible to read. Then again I don't get the point of putting a clock widget on your phone when there's already a clock in the notification bar. I just put the day, date, and weather.

It'd be nice to have some sort of rating system, and then be able to organize by rating. The problem with that though is you have to decide where your cutoff of a rating would be... as you don't want a bunch of apps with a single 5 star rating to be above an app with 500 ratings averaging out to 4.9.

I find the notification bar too small to read at a quick glance.
