I had a termite expert give me a estimate of how much it would cost to eliminate the termites from our property. The estimate was around $1900 :(. Is this too expensive or fair amount? Could I get it cheaper?

Without knowing specifics of your home, it sounds reasonable.

Get bids from several vendors. That's the only way to know.

It depends on your construction and building size.

Houses built on a slab are usually cheaper. If you have hidden areas, stucco over block, well water, carpet or tile in a clubbed basement, these can all add to the price. If you have damage and an active infestation, treatment should be commenced immediately! Either way, you should get a lifetime warranty to cover re-infestation that covers any damage from such infestations. They usually charge about $100 per year for the annual inspection to keep the lifetime warranty in effect.

I think that sounds pretty reasonable too... I'm pretty sure it cost us about 1000 to get rid of termites in a townhouse 13 years ago.. I don't remember what we paid to have this house treated (we didn't actually have termites, my husband is just.. paranoid) when we did.. it costs about 120/year to get them to guarantee we won't ever have to pay to do it again..

The stupid person who occupied our house before we moved in did a lousy job by doing half assed job on termite termination. :(
