Terminology for Half-Width AGP cards?

For the life of me I can not determine what one calls an AGP card that is speced for small factor case such that it is roughly half the width (not length) of a normal AGP card. This is for Dell that is a little under a year old and I've seen them before so I know it isn't a proprietory technology. Can anyone fill me in? I thought at first it was simply Mini-AGP but that is the standard for laptops.

I was trying to figure out the same thing to upgrade a desktop Dell 4300S and had a helluva time finding a card with the half width rear bracket. I ended up with a PCI card because it was too difficult finding a half width AGP card.

Low profile is the technical term, sometimes called LP. Newegg has a few agp lp cards, though most lp cards are pci. Newegg even has a dual gigabit nic in low profile.

Half height
Low profile

Find a rackmount conmponent supplier. Prices will likely be higher than Newegg. eBay might also be worth a shot.

If you find a card that's not SPECIFICALLY low-profile but still only takes up only 1/2 to 2/3 of the metal bracket, you can always "mod" it yourself. The easiest way is to (VERY) simply remove the screws that hold the regular-height bracket on and pop the card into the slot without it. That's not a good long-term solution... but you can bend and snip that bracket to the right size if you're good with tools. 😉
