Terminator + RTS= Match made in heaven?

It still eludes me why no one has created an RTS with the terminator liscensce. It'd be the perfect thing to do.

You have two sides. A very clear, (And very gripping) story set in the future. The humans struggle against the Terminators and eventually push them back.

If the humans win, the Terminators are destroyed. If the terminators win, they send a terminator back in time to end the resistance.

Both sides would have distinguished weaponry (Already decently fleshed out in 1, and less so in 2) and vechicles, as well as units.

It'd be so easy to put together.. and it'd probably sell pretty well. The future universe of terminator is extremley intriguing.

I personally think the Terminator would be a better FPS with vehicle control. You could play either side too.

There have been quite a few terminator FPS's, as GameFAQs database showed something like 3 or 4.

A modern 3d FPS with vechicle control, though.. is over due. Maybe we'll see one with the release of terminator 3.

Every terminator game ever made has sucked donkey balls, except for the T2 arcade shooter.

In fact, there are only about 3-4 games based on movies ever made, in the history of movie-based games that didn't suck.

Well what I don't understand is how could they possibly screw up a terminator RTS since half of the designing and creative work is already done for 'em?

designing and creative work isn't everything. execution is just as important.

storyline, balancing, graphics/sound, bugs etc

My theory is they spend so much money getting the liscense for the title no real money is ever left over to put into the development and programming. I think they also rush it to capitalize on the hype created by the movie

Hmm.. maybe Terminator is more suited to a deltaforceish + vechicles (And turrets) type game? Deltaforce with vechicles? Heh.
