Terminally slow connection with Buff G54 and WRT ver 23 SP3

Ok I bought a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 router a year ago and installed DD WRT version 23 Sp3 right away. Things went gang busters and I've loved using DD WRT ever since. I've got 2 wired connections and 5 or 6 wireless connections (only 2 of which connect very often). I've been using WPA2 shared key encryption (tkip), mac address filtering, and static DCHP leases to some clients. I also have 3 or 4 ports forwarded. Would anyone expect much of a slowdown over connecting straight to the cable modem with this set-up?. Like I said things went fine for almost a year. In the last 2 or 3 weeks though I've noticed the connection was slow but I just chalked it up to my ISP. Last few days though it got so slow I couldn't even use the connection, it took 30 seconds to load anything if it didn't time out all together. So I tried connecting straight to the cable modem, BOOM 100x faster! Uh oh it's the router. So I set it to factory defaults and reboot the router. Things seem better now but of course I lost all my settings. Does anyone know why I might have experienced such a slow down? I can't think of anything that I've done recently that would have caused this. Should I upgrade to a release candidate of version 24?

I've already posted on the DD WRT forums by the way.
