We got a new server to act as our TS (all win2k network) server (old one was a bit outdated). We also run exchange and use outlook. Well, now whenever users login via TS client or RDP, once in awhile outlook will just hang the session. I'm not sure why, it seems to happen when a user clicks to send a url via email in IE, but the others are inconsistant (happens with maybe 3 of 4 users).

anyone have any clues here?

It could come from inappropriately log out. The user must close/exit all apps before log out of terminal services (teach them to use ?Start > logout? instead of clicking on the top right ?X? to logout).

There are properties under "Active directory users and computers" & "Terminal Services Configuration" that you can use to automatically reset a user session if idle for a specific amount of time (this option hasn't work too well for me because it sometime kick my user out in a middle of a session).

For my company, a small bank... we also have Exchange 2k on a 2k server and use Outlook. I TS into the Exchange server to update active directory or email stuff. We only have 2 licenses for TS connections. Sometime one of the connections hangs and even though only one person is in, the second connection appears to be in use. I think the only way we can clear that is to reboot the server. Hmm.

You don't need to be that drastic, because you can reset the session in TS Management.

you dont even need to TS into the exchange server to make changes to active directory, just instal the win2k admin pak on your workstation and voila (and you should also instal exchange managment tools from the exchange cd to make email changes locally).
