Terminal connection through Serial Port on NT

I'm trying to establish a terminal connection to a Sun Ultra 10 running Solaris through a direct serial connection with a pass through cable. Unfortunately, the terminal emulator I'm using is not able to open the port. Everything works fine while running Win9x, but NT seems to have problems. Anyone have experience with a similar situation?
