I have a bottle of Teriyaki Sauce with an expiration date of August 2012, but it was open last march, so it has been first open for year now. I tasted a little bit of it and it seems fine, just don't want to get sick eating it. What does ATOT say?

There's enough sugar and salt in it to keep bacteria from growing but, since it's dirt cheap to begin with, toss it out and get another.

Mistake, the bottle says expires August 2013. But it is still a year old since opening.

If it wasn't stored in the ref after opening, check for molds. Had a bottle of Oyster Sauce thrown because of this. :\

It was refrigerated, and I don't see any mold.

Then you are looking at a flavor issue. How does it taste?

My rule of thumb concerning food safety is if you are asking a question about food, don't eat it and throw it away. It does not make sense to gamble with food safety.

It would probably be fine even if you left it out, so much salt that even mold probably can't grow on it.

Expired Teriyaki Sauce can make you feel sleepy.
When you feel sleepy, your go to a bar to get drunk.
When you go to a bar to get drunk, your up for anything.
When your up for anything, you go to a Turkish bath house.
When you go to Turkish bath house, you meet Charlie Sheen.
When you meet Charlie Sheen, you go around re-enacting scenes from Two and Half Men.
Don't go around re-enacting scenes from Two and Half Men, get rid of that expired Teriyaki Sauce.

This. How much is a bottle of teriyaki sauce, like $2-3? Just buy another one.

I'd say it's good.

Crap, mine always sits in the fridge for a couple of years.

I'd only chuck it if it smells/tastes bad, and that's never happened.
