Looks like the industry have decided to put Terabit ethernet on hold for the moment, and instead work on 400G, citing practicality problems with terabit.

I cant saturate the dual 10G I have running to my closets an racks, 400G seems that it would be enough for some time to come. I can see carriers loving this type of stuff, but most enterprises wont see a need.

Apparently, companies like google, facebook, amazon have been really harassing the manufacturers to come up with an implementation plan for Tbit ASAP, as they are rapidly outgrowing even aggregated 100 G links.

I guess, at present, it's just too hard to achieve Tbit.

What do you have running off your closets that you are saturating dual 10GB links?

He said he can't saturate...

Buy sustained isn't the issue. Bursts are what kills. But as mentioned, most won't need it save for financials.

The IEEE needs to start now on efforts to develop and standardize what 5 years from now looks like. 5 years from now you'll need more bandwidth than what you have now. It's all a big pyramid, and as links on the bottom and in the middle increase in capacity, the links at the top need to, too.
