I can spend up to $1150, including taxes (though I'd prefer to be safely under that), and already have a case, keyboard, and monitor. I'd like to be able to run most newer games acceptably (around 45-50 fps) at 11x8 to 12x10 at mid-to-high details as inexpensively as possible. Overclocking's definitely a possibility later on, though I'd probably need to upgrade from the 350W PSU that came with my Antec SLK3700AMB. This is what I've looked at:
A64 3000+ Retail $175
Soltek SL-K8AN2E-GR (NF3 250Gb) $96
Sapphire 9800 Pro (128MB 256bit) $197
PDP PC3200 CL2 2x512MB $169
Seagate 160GB (7200/8MB/IDE) $101
Z640s $52
MX310 $29
NEC ND-2510A $74
XP Home OEM $90
Fresno County tax $78
Totals around $1061.
A few questions:
In the long run, would the A64 be worth the expense over an overclocked mobile XP?
The PDP 2-3-2-5 stuff is only $15 more than some Corsair Value CL 2.5; would it give much more OCing headroom and be worth the price?
Should I get the 9800 Pro with the oversized cooler on it (probably OCing that)?
Is there a better mouse for the same or less money than the MX310?
Opinions on anything would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
