www.thesports authority has it for $159.99 (standard) or $169.99 for Oversized.

There are many other tenniswarehouse/sportsauthority racquet price matches. I am too lazy to list them all. If someone is willing please do so.

I have this racket for about a year now. Its a great racket but not enough power, the power holes help but its still 6.4. Still a great racket for the price, i payed 70 for a demo at the pro shop of my racket club.

49er: What racquet would you recommend. I have the 6.2 hammer stretch right now. That 5.3 Hammer is looking tempting. Haven't tried it though. Tell me your thoughts.

Ace, I'm not 49er but bieng an avid tennis player I know a thing or two about Wilson's lineup. It all depends on your playing style. The 6.2 stretch is a good racquet but if you want more power, go for the 5.3 . Wilson's guaging system is usually the lower the number, the more powerful the racquet. But you may lose accuracy that way as well. Demo racquets always before buying them-- that's the only way you'll know for sure what combination or power and accuracy is best for you.

I agree with vs, you really have to sample rackets before you buy to see which one you like the best. Personally the new hyper carbon series from wilson seems to feel the best for me, but that may not be the same for you.

The numbers on the rackets indicate swing speed. The higher the number the lower the power. I have a Wilson Pro STaff 6.1. Rackets like this have no power. They are made for bing hitters who generate their own power. This is a racket that is made for someone who wants control not power. Rackets with more power would have a lower number like 4 or 2.8.

gplracer, you are right but with the power holes series, the rackets power is basically equal to a mid 5.X so for everyone who is a beginner to medium skilled player this is a great racket. my main problem with it is that serves are rather weak with it but the control is excellent.

yeah, the previous few posters advises are right... if you go for power, you're going to have less control.. if you go for control, less power. If you're a beginner/intermediate, i would go for control.

Personally, i use the Head Ti.Fire... which is good for beginner/intermediate. I used to be quite an advanced player, from age 12-18, i wasn't officially ranked, but i use to played with ranked players all the time. But it's been a few yrs, and my skill just isn't as good anymore, so control is more important for me now (my serve is still deadly though). But I think i might pick up this racket if I can get it for this cheap and in canada or shipped to canada.

I've played quite a bit of tennis and one teaching pro I know plays with this racket(he isn't one of those crappy teaching pros either he was once ranked #409 in the world). Anyways I can't say anything about this racket because I've only held it and not hit with it. But for advanced/open players this racket maybe way too lite. Although you could do what most pros do and just add lead tape. Try and look for the Head Ti Radical. I haven't met a player who didn't like this racket. Good luck but again you can't go wrong for ~70. Does sports authority pricematch online retailers without hassle? Because I've walked into Office Depot stores with print ads and man pricematches are like pulling teeth even with the physical ad. :)

Gamma string is like $25 at The Sports Authority and like $8 at Tennis warehouse. They have like 6 different kinds of string. Anyone know if they will price match more than one item if they are different in the same order? Not worth it to buy one thing of string with $5 in shipping charges.

Their price Guarantee says:

"Limit one item per price match per customer."

Sentence is confusing to me.

Does it mean you can't get the price match on five Hammer 6.4s, but you could get it on a Hammer 6.4 and a Head racquet? Or that you can only use the price match once?

Here is what I did and excerpts from the e-mails thesportsauthority sent me - I searched pretty long for golf deals and couldn't find any too attractive -

I was looking to sample some different string in my racquet any way - I got 4 different sets of string for $15. Two other tennis bag deals that are worth doing if you need them are the red Wilson 3 pack - price ends up around $20. Also the US Open Black and yellow 6 pack ends up around $20. They didn't have a six pack or 8 pack red wilson bag and my house is getting full of.......

----------------------------------------------------
Below is the price match breakdown:

Gamma TNT 16-$22.99 minus 10.60 equals 12.39 multiplied by 1.5 is $18.58 ($18.58 is the amount we credit you back)

Gamma TNT 17-$22.99 minus 10.60 equals 12.39 multiplied by 1.5 is $18.58 ($18.58 is the amount we credit you back)

Gamma Marathon 15L-$21.99 minus 8.40 equals 13.59 multiplied by 1.5 is $20.38 ($20.38 is the amount we credit you back)

Gamma Gut 3-$25.99 minus 8.50 equals 17.49 multiplied by 1.5 is $26.23 (since we can not give the customer money back, you will get this item at no charge)

Total credit back equals $83.53
----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
Order Totals
Product Sub-Total : $ 93.96
Shipping: $ 4.99
Order Totals $ 98.95
----------------------------------------------------

A title switch for the over-all thread might have more people dig through thesportsauthority site looking for deals. Any one find any good deals on Tennis shoes? Happy hunting

If you are a tournament player and have a rating of 4.5 or better the Wilson Prostaff 6.1 is a better choice. It is a heavier racket though which maybe too heavy for some. Most of the stores sell sting for like $15-$20 because that includes the price of stringing the racket. I have my own racket stringer because I break a lot of string. The thinner gauges like 17 will give you more spin and a livelier racket. The string does not last as long though. Without the charge of string synthetic gut usually runs about $5-$10. It depends on the type of string. Personally I like Wilson Sensation and Sensation NXT. They do cost a little more than most synthetics.
