That mandate does and never should exist. You don't have to believe in someone's god but neither are they compelled to toe your line. What is required is civil behavior towards others and there's not enough of that to go around.
We're talking about a preacher/sheriff calling for the death of LGBTQ people for violating God's law. To that person I don't have to be civil. And I think it's perfectly fair to ask any Christian preaching others should follow their God's law to at least show me some evidence he exists. There's nothing civil about telling others they will burn in hell if they don't get on board with your particular religious beliefs.

EDIT: But I'm not saying Jublix was preaching, I kinda picked on him because he indicated his conservative christian viewpoints may be too extreme for others.

I don't know Jublix but if he's like the preacher then I've no time for him or anyone else who promote such things. "Conservative Christian viewpoints" is an oxymoron.

Right, but the preacher is correct, he's not alone. To what extent his terroristic holy war statements infiltrate our communities is the question. I would say it's a large enough percentage of Americans be be concerned about as to warrant light shined on them. I wouldn't say *all* conservatives are of the same viewpoint. As a young man heavily indoctrinated, I certainly heard people echo similar sentiments. Nobody preached it though, that I recall.

There would be fewer phony Christians if there were more real ones but I think Christianity is really really hard. How can you possibly forgive people as rotten as yourself? No, it’s just too damn tempting just to pretend.

He's not alone but there's two conflated issues here which I've long call "godandamerica". It's mom, apple pie, baseball, church and conservative politics all rolled into one, but IIRC Jesus didn't do that. The preacher and his ilk aren't anything like that. Politics ought to have nothing to do with religion and vice versa.

Why would i bother doing anything if "maybe" you will hear me out? In other words. Why do you feel you are that important for me to care about you? I don't... Have a nice day.

damn son: just giving up on your Christian mandate like that, eh?

Going out on a limb here, but I don't think you are a Christian. You probably bought a pamphlet for $10, though.

Sure, but its unrealistic to think it will be separate. Conservatives from the two main religions in our world encompass more than half the population.

The effects of our extensive religious heritage can be seen in our society everyday, and by extension, politics.

Probably not. I think he's a kid on summer break and we're the science experiment that he got a C+ on and then tossed in his closet.

The flood, turning people to salt, sending angel assassins to kill children etc was probably him throwing a fit for getting such a terrible grade.

This story always takes a deep dive into the "No True Scotsman" fallacy because... of course it does.

You know, you have good point there. Personally, I think the platypus is what killed his grade. It's like he threw a bunch of spare parts together just to get the project finished.

He did a real good job on the volcanoes though. Better than any of the school projects I've ever seen! :D

I guess conservatives were right...we DO need to be vigilant about certain jurisdictions in the US implementing Sharia Law. Just didn’t expect conservatives would be the ones doing it lol.
