Tenessee Harley rider with no common sense....

So, I'm filling my Honda Superhawk on lunch today, and a group of 5 guys pull in. As some of you know, its Harley's 100th Anniversary celebreation this week, so the Milwaukee area has had a recent influx of ~1,000,000 Harley riders. (no joke) Anyway, I was talking to them, asking where they're from, exchanging the typical Harley vs Honda jokes. (It's not leaking oil, its marking its territory, etc)

Anyway, so this guy says to me, "I guess you guys aren't used to having Harley riders in this area, are you?"

I looked at him, trying to figure out if he was serious or not. I said, "You know Milwaukee is the home of Harley Davidson, right?"

Anyway, at least he laughed at himself. So, we parted ways, and I didn't get a black eye. 😀

You're right, of course. The dentists and CPAs probably think they're made in Harley, KS or some sh*t.

That was kind of my thought. There are a LOT of new Harley riders out there with the hype and the increased availability of their bikes (new factory).

Well get life and get off the phvking forums. Thats wut "off-topic".

Where you specifically in Milwaukee, Mogul? I am in New Berlin... I have a Suzuki GS500E.. so I haven't had to guts to go out this week.. heh.. Looking at getting a Ducati Monster though.

I was in Oak Creek. Filling up at station on Ryan Road and I-94.

Edit:

They really don't care what kind of bike you are riding. Most of the guys are great for a good conversation. They are just out to ride, as I am most of the time when I'm on my bike.

Now crimson, they're harmless. In fact, they're probably more scared of you than you are of them.

/pats crimson on head

Haha.. I'm not AFRAID... I would ride my bike around.. but certainly wouldn't ride it to a rally point.. That would be like showing up at a Chicago Bears game with a Packer's jersey on.. you just don't do it.. heh..

Now there's an idea - pull up to one of their rallies wearing one of those snappy Cheesehead hats. 😀

Really? I've done it. It's the Vikings games that you really have to be careful about.

Nice to see some fellow milwaukeeans here. I have been having a blast this week. Got to see the OCC bikes, went down to the party at summerfest grounds, watched the parade today. Coolest bike I saw was a 572ci BossHoss.

its getting a little crazy. 9 out of every 10 vehicles that pass by my window are harleys. i dont know how im going to sleep at night. especially since they all feel the need to rev their engines and honk the horns. *cringe*

Not sure what it's like by you but they "all" don't rev their engines and I haven't heard one honk their horns. I live very close to State Fair so I am right in the middle of it. I'm sure you will sleep just fine.

I just hate it when idiots put noisemaker exhaust pipes on their Harley's.

Hello! Harley didn't design your bike to be heard 6 miles away! Sheesh

No offense to all the true Harley riders out there, who don't put noisemakers on their bikes.

Here is an interesting read on Harley in USA Today from a few days ago....

http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2003-08-24-harley_x.htm

I know alot of people will read this and see it as Harley selling out....at least this guy does...

http://www.goingfaster.com/angst/main.htm

but personally I have to give them some credit, it isn't like they are Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha or BMW that make either cars (BMW) or everything from cars to atvs and drumsets like the japanese brands....they have to suppliment their income and diversify somehow and it seems as if their methods are paying off....plus their new V Rod bike seems really nice, and the offerings from Buell are also pretty interesting....

Personally I like Harley's because they are classic and iconic...sure their status and their brand awareness make them more of a target for the uninformed but then again is that such a bad thing??
