a co-worker of mine is thinking of investing in a Tempur-pedic mattress. she is worried, though, that becuase of the foam-style of the bed that it will retain body heat moreso than most other matress types. does anyone have one of these and can tell me if there is a noticable heat issue with it?

thanks

man, no one knows if the Tempur-pedic mattress will retain body heat, making one hotter during sleep?!?!

I saw an infomercial where they would let you try-before-you-buy for 4 entire months absolutely free of charge and they were adamant about it. It was from the creator of the thing so it seemed legit. I would do it if we hadn't only purchased this new mattress we have less than a year ago.

I have one, as far as retaining heat, it doesn't happen to me or my old lady. Its quite comfortable and I love it, we have had it for almost 8 months now and my only gripe is I hate their pillows. I got one of their pillows and I absolutely hated it, I had to get a normal goose feather pillow. I hope this helps...

Reason so few people know is that those beds cost a small fortune. I had looked into it briefly until I saw the sticker price; can't see ever buying one until their prices plummet.

No doubt!
My parents got it for us, they are way to expensive to justify IMO.

I have a 3" memory foam mattress pad that is similar density to the Tempurpedic stuff. Personally, I don't really care for it, which puts me in the minority I think. Its great if you primarily lay on your back or side, but if you are a stomache sleeper the thing is horrible. I'm not sure exactly why, but its mega-uncomfortable on your stomach.

But anyways, if you want a Tempurpedic there are much cheaper alternatives than buying the actual name brand. matresses.net, abed.com, foamforless.com etc etc.

I've got a tempur-pedic bed and it is very comfortable and "breaths" as well as any other bed. It was expensive but I have not regretted purchasing it.

You've gotta remember these things are made to last 20+ years. Take the $1100 cost (Queen Ultra Plush set from mattresses.net) and divide it by 7300 (days) and you'll see that they're only 15 cents/night - $54.75/year.

Similar != same, so you can't knock Tempur-Pedic if you have an imitation.

I'm not a brand whore, but in some cases you really do need to get the "real thing."

well...since i'm cheap--i use a memory foam topper.
this does not retain heat--i'd expect the same from the full mattress.
