Tempting...

I'm being offered an AMD Barton 2500+ for 55$
He says it runs at 1.833 unclocked.

Is this a good price?
How are Bartons, I've never used one.

Yeps it's 1.83 stock, good OCing core for sure.
I wouldn't pay $55 though, i'll sell you mine for $30 once my upgrade gets here 😀 (prlly a couple weeks).

No experience with Semprons here.
I just know mine runs cool at 3200 speeds, still very dated though. I think an OCed Sempron might be a better idea. Plus you can get Semprons in a S754 version.

Well, it has been overclocked for a good year now, but still running strong.
PM if you're interested, not sure when the upgrade's coming in though.

I probably won't be buying for a few weeks anyways. ^_^
If I can get more comments and opinions from other people, I'll let you know if I'm interested. I was considering saving for a Sempron, but if I can get a good processor for 30$, I'll take it. So, again, I'll wait a bit, since you'll have the processor for a while. 🙂

Thanks for the reply!

I've been running mine @ 2800 level for 4 months now. Before it ran @ stock speed for a 9 months.

got mine brand new for $78.00

I'm upgrading from a P3 933Mhz. 🙁
My family uses a Dell 4550 that runs at 2.0 though.

I'll also consider a cheap sempron for overclocking I guess. As long as it'll last a while. -,-

Yeah, I just read a few reviews on it. Looks like I'll be buying it soon. 😉

Thanks for the suggestion. ^_^

Now, to figure out exactly how to overclock...ugh. 🙁

Get the Barton for $30, since I see it will be your first overclocking adventure (I can remember mine very well) just play around with it and if you blow it up, you only lost $30.

Good practice for that Sempron after you save a little money. 😉
