Just curious...are my memory timings good or average?
I tried to get the advertised 2-3-2-6...but when going that tight, i got no video, even with 2.8V memory in bios.

Hey, if wasting power and generating noise pollution makes you happy, go for it!

Drill holes so you can add even more fans, and mybe arrange clusters of 40-60mm fans into interesting geometric shapes! With support wires you could have free-floating shapes! fan-tastic!

I saw a 20" wall fan at target the other day. I couldn't stop picturing the fan as the side panel of a computer.

5 Tornadoes?

Those are the Vantec ones right?

I couldn't stand 1 running in my system. I returned it the next day.

A fan that huge could spin very slowlyyet produce a huge CFM, it might work great as a cool & quiet exhaust fan 🙂

Um, unlockthesource, that's only two different types of people...

😉

Oh man did you walk into that one.

P.S. You proved his point. 😉

I think the smiley meant he understood the sig 😛 (I hope!)

I don't. 😉 It would have been funnier though if he worded it like this: There are 1 types of people... those who understand binary and those who dont. 😀

On topic: 5 Vantec Tornadoes?! 4 HD Coolers? Man, this is all a little on the overkill side. Probably get away with less than half the fans and still keep this baby cool. Frankly dump the Vantec's and put in some Panaflo 92mm M1A's. The HD Coolers.. you can likely cut them in half, or even just use 1. Unless you are trying to go for some kind of cooling record I bet this setup I mentioned would still run under mid 30's on the MB. Your CPU numbers will likely not change.

oh...my bad...left the v off of vantec...

I bought all those fans with the intention of overclocking, once i get the stability issues out of the way. Also, I keep my computer in a desk enclosure, and wanted a lot of forced air currents, so as to let the desk cabinet be air restrictive.

i do believe in power consevation...This time, I bought an AMD over Intel, LCD over a CRT, and use my previous intel to heat the house in the winter. Every bulb in my house is one of those 7 year "the twister" light bulbs.
...I recycle 100 % of my naturally occuring waste heat. With all my electronix in our house we dont actually ever turn the heat over 50 degrees.

HAHA

Thanks HeroOfPellinor.
Hes lucky you got to him before i did 😉

As for "There are 1 types of people... those who understand binary and those who dont."
...That definitely NOT funnier, IMO

Edit: Added last 2 lines.

I stand corrected. Perhaps next time i will insert a ::sarcastic:: before I make such comments 🙂

Still I would'nt you have ben better off with NO extra fans and a nasty liquid cooling system. You could probably have gotten a one that connects to CPU/GPU as well as Southbridge and HD's.

17 fans? egads...
Maybe you could just remove the case covers. Hop down to Walmart and pickup a 3' floor fan and glue it to your case. Couldn't be any louder 🙂

Actually a 3' fan would have blades about 1.25' and probably be 3-speed variable. It would move alot of air, even at slow speeds, and be MUCH quieter.

My Suggestion:
Take both sides off the case. Mount one 3' fan on each side, in push-pull config. Then mount to system chassis to an oscillating fan base and you got yourself a computer that cools itself and you! 🙂
