Well, just before I left my apt this morning, my 24/7 SoB/MagicJack computer was beeping, once in a while. I figured it must be due to temps, so I started CoreTemp. Cpu is E2140 @ 2.8Ghz, 1.425v BIOS, cooled by a HyperTX2. Well, temps were 79C, with a tJmax of 85C, so I was 6C away from tJmax. Not good. I remember the hot days of summer, and my rig got to 9C away from Tjmax previously, but I don't remember it triggering the BIOS temp alarm, which goes off at 80C. So the rig has gotten warmer, probably needs a dusting or re-application of TIM or something. Possibly, I could replace the HyperTX2 with an OCZ Vendetta, I have a few of them around.
A friend's rig has an E5200 @ 3.625Ghz, 1.425v BIOS, and his HyperTX2 keeps it cool enough so it doesn't trigger the BIOS temp alarm. He doesn't run SoB for me anymore, he just games on it.
So anyways, I shut down SoB, and temps dropped to 54C idle, which still seems a bit warm to me, even though I have C1E and EIST disabled. Ambient temps were 78F.
