Temps for my new Core i7 3770K seem a bit hot?

I just got my 3770k and with Prime95 running I am seeing 85C? With a Coolermaster Hyper 212+? I had a Coolermaster V8 on my i7 2600K and never seen temps this hot before?

Is this normal for the 3770k?

Thanks.

Yes, due to crappy TIM between the die and IHS.
Also - what version of Prime95 (is it using AVX FFTs?) and what Vcore?

There are probably 10 threads in the past 3 pages on this very topic. Looks a little high even for an Ivy (try reseating your heatsink) but Ivy Bridge is designed to handle those kind of temperatures. Don't worry.

I did and now it runs 60-65C when Prime95 is running only. It's using the AVX extensions according to the stat readout...

If I fire up the Furmark and Prime95 the case gets hot and the CPU will go into the 70's... But before I was just running Prime95 and was hitting 70-80C! So I hope re-seating it fixed it...

BTW can anyone recommend a better 4pin fan for this 212+? What about Noctura? Good choice?

60-65C sounds normal. Good to hear reseating worked.

On stock cooler you get around 80-85C with Linpack.

Also note some MBs automaticly OC. So for example a 3570K wont run 3.6Ghz with 4 cores, but 3.8Ghz.
