Temps at full load on OC'd 1.6a

I'm not sure what to expect from the included heatsink/fan combo, but my 1.6a running at 2.133 ghz has a load temperature of 59 c when running prime 95. Is my cpu overheating? What can I do to lower the temperature if it is?

59 is not bad for it. a little warm. so it's not overheating. u should ditch the retail hs/fan. get a real fan alpha/volcano 7+. get that thermal pad off there and put on some artic silver. A few case fans ,,, intake in front, outtake in back. Also u can clean up ur cables ie. get round ide cables. that should drop ur temputure a heck of a lot.

go look for the thread about stock HSF...go to search and type warning..it should be there...
i can't link it up right now because i am subscribed

We've noticed on these threads that Abit boards tend to report fairly high temps relative to other boards.
Not necesarily a product defect, just a quirk. Your temps are not out of the ordinary for your setup, particularly if your room temp is >warm.
for reference:
my 1.6@2330 hits 65 at load (as reported by hardware doctor)

well my max loads on my P4 1.6A @ 2.4 GHZ are 45 C. 59 C is kinda hot. You wanna get it under 50 C at least. Slap some ASIII on that baby, and remove that crap thermal pad.

You can find out just how far off the reported thermal diode temps are by following this procedure at the arcticsilver homepage.

My Epox 4g4a overreports cpu temp by about 12 degrees centigrade.

60C sounds HOT to me. i'm running a vanilla athlon at 1600mhz, and i get 50C loaded. amd chips are known to be much hotter than the intel chips...yours sounds way too hot to me. get yourself a nice hsf, something made of copper with a nice 80mm fan. happy overclocking.

I think my abit BG7 is off by 15C. My digidoc probe is touching the side of the cpu and it reports 53C under load while winbond doctor reports 67C under load and idle is 38C and 52C respectivly.
