Temporary Video Upgrade

I currently have a Radeon 9700 pro (AGP). I'm doing a Conroe build and I want to wait to buy a DX10 card. What card should I buy in the mean time to just hold me over till DX10 cards come down a bit in price?

Id prefer not to spend more the $100, less if possible. I do want to gain preformance over my 9700 but since its only temporary and will be replaced... I hate to throw away money.

Edited to fix the horrible sentence structure and punctuation.

Whoa... English is not your strong subject, but from what I can deduce:

You have an old AGP system
You want to upgrade to Core2Duo
But you want to wait for DX10 to come out before you upgrade

I would suggest you upgrade to C2D now, buy a cheap PCIe (7600GT or 7900GT perhaps?), and wait for the 2nd generation of DX10 cards before you upgrade your video. :)

I agree with acole; buy a 7600GT and wait until the next generation of DX10 cards, I dont think there are many DX10 games on the horizon.

Sorry, I guess I completely skipped over punctuation. I totally apologize for that. I guess I was in a hurry.

I actually play Hallife2 and any new story releases for that, as well as, Oblivion which I know I can't crank up but it plays ok.

ya go with a 7600gt, thats a good enough card to run most of your games, but if you really dont wanna scratch out that money, you can probably grab an x850xt, pretty much the same performance

Hope I was able to help. :)

Before I went AMD X2 and Nvidia SLI I had a p4 3ghz and a Radeon 9800 Pro and I played HL2 just fine. Not with all the settings way up mind you, but it was playable. I then got an X800 XL and it was even better. If you want to stick with AGP until DX10 cards come out then the 7600gt or the x800 cards are for you. I have 2 7800 GT PCI-E cards I am gonna sell as soon as the R600 comes out (months from now, but I am patient.)
