Hey tech monkeys,
I'm going to upgrade my rig later this summer but in the mean time I want to update the OS and memory. Then when I get ready to do a big update my bro will get the guts from this one.
What I want to know is, is it worth it or should I just wait.
I use this rig for gaming (FPS mostly) and I run Pro Tools on it too. The latest version of Pro Tools only works on Win 7.
Right now I'm running Win Xp- want to upgrade to Win 7 64 bit.
3 GB's DDR2 PC 6400- want 4-8 GB's, whatever this MB will take.
Mobo EVGA NForce 680SLI
CPU Core-Duo QX6700 2.66GHZ (never overclocked but prolly will on next build).
GPU GTX 260 (I have an 8800 GTX too. Not installed.)
When I do the upgrade my Bro will get Mobo, CPU, Memory and maybe the GPU (either the 260 or the 8800). Was also wondering if I should get a new GPU or go SLI with the 260. Native resolution is 1920 x 1200.
I want to go Sandy Bridge when I get some cash.
I'm keeping the case, PSU, optical drives etc.
Apparently I'm an Intel/nVidia fanboy. Who knew?
Hope that's enough info. Thanks
