Are temps being used more than in the past? I know companies don't want to begin hiring again until they absolutely have to, due to the economy, but it seems that more and more people are having to work through temp agencies now.

Or is this the future of employment?

I don't know if you're only talking about temp jobs but if you're good contract work is the way to go. A firmware engineer I know amkes 200k a year as a contractor. If he was salaried he'd be making 90-100.
