A biopic of Temple Grandin, an autistic woman who has become one of top scientists in humane livestock handling.

Absolute best movie I have seen in months.

Similar feel to Rainman, but they do such an awesome job it really feels like you're seeing the world through her eyes.

NPR had an interview with the director. It really sounded fascinating but I don't have HBO. The movie is about the achievements of a person born so severely autistic that she didn't speak until age 5, IIRC. Now she is a university professor and one of the most respected scientists in animal behavior.

eh..
i remember hearing about her on npr a few years back and reading her books, she does have something interesting to say, basically she compares animal experience as closer to that of autistics, and with that insight she can figure out the small details that the animals freak out about and we just don't notice or care about.

I admit, the plotline doesn't sound amazing, but it really is.

The movie was good, more of an re-enactment than what I would normally call a "movie". But informative and fun none the less.

I thought so too, and then I ended up glued to HBO for two hours. Great film. Claire Danes is exceptional as Temple.

I knew the name was familiar, I think this american life had a segment with her

I only saw a little of it. I was shocked to find out that Temple was played by Claire Danes of Terminator 3.

I just saw this twice this past weekend on HBO. Great movie. Academy award material by Claire Danes if you ask me.
