I have a 1.2GHz "C"-type Athlon with a Asus A7V133 mobo, and I read about 49deg idle and peaks at about 56deg (all in Celsius). I have a GlobalWin FOP32-1 cooler. I think the CPU runs a little hot, but as it is, it's rock stable.
Actually, I think I can easily drop it a few degrees by ventilating the computer better (it's now inside a case with relatively low ventilation at the backside (bad exhaust conditions), and maybe doing the thermal compund application job a little better.
Anyway, I think one important reason of people getting different temp readings is the different CPU voltages people are running at. My CPU runs at 1,8 volts, which I think can explain the high temps. From reading some of the posts here, it seems like there are many different voltages that people have, and maybe there are too much focus about using different thermal paste and such instead of focusing at the voltage.
Btw, I use the AsusProbe for temp reading, but experience no difference of temp reading in Bios or by Sisoft Sandra, so I think the thing about AsusProbe reading too high temps is just a myth, or maybe a problem associated with early versions of AsusProbe.... Am I wrong?
Well, any opinions about some of the views I have presented here? Feel free to comment.
