Temperatures - AMD Athlon XP2600+

I have googled a bit and haven't come up with a clear answer on what a good temperature range is for an AMD Athlon XP 2600+

I put in the new PC3200 ram and cranked the FSB up and am running at 2.29 right now with an operating temp of right about 46 degrees C and a system temp of 31 using MBM5, how does this sound? what should I look for as a max or average temp?

For load temps max should be in the mid to lower 50's upper 40's would be even better. Mine is running 2500mhz 1.90v 46 load case at 22c Thermalright SP-97 92mm Panaflo for cooling.

So is your 46c an idle temp or a heavy load temp like prime95,Super PI,etc..? and what voltage and cooling are you using?

idle, voltage is 1.65 cooling is Tt Silent Boost, Antec case with 120 exhaust

Turned the FSB back to 166 and its running at 42 idle

1.65volts is what I would consider a very safe voltage and I would be comfortable recommending 1.75volts "but" check and watch you load temps.

Don't be concered about running it the mid 50's under a heavy load(Prime95,super PI,etc) my case temp is almost 9c cooler thus the cooer cpu temps. Don't settle for less than 200fsb your setup is built for it and thats where the performance really kicks in.

Don't be anal about the temps. Basically below or right around 60C under load is just fine and perfectly safe.

alright so then I feel a bit more comfortable running my FSB at 200, thus pushing the CPU to 2.3ghz without apparent problems

My AXP Barton 2500 @ 3200(non-mobile) runs at 61C under full load using stock cooling. I am not wasting a second thought on that.
For the price of better cooling (new HSF + case fans) I could have got the 'real' AXP 3200, which BTW uses the same cooling.

all gigabyte k7 series mobo (as mine 7nnxp) report cpu diode core temps 10 degrees higher then real temps.(recent bios revisions)
