This one really bothers me. I've heard a few people saying it but it boiled over for me when I was listening to the Astronomycast podcast. Dr Pamela Gay is an incredibly smart woman but she always pronounces 'temperature' as 'tempichur', it fucking pisses me off.

And how is one suppose to pronounce it? People always pronounce it that way. Well more like temperchur but some use the i as well.

If I'm speaking quickly I'll sometimes say temperture. If I'm speaking more deliberately I include the "a".

Southern Illinois? Yeah, that would explain it.

I pronounce it: TEMP-ra-chour

If you want annoying, listen to someone from Boston talk:

Dude, New Zealanders don't pronounce anything correctly......

This isn't an accent thing. People are skipping an entire syllable, and it sounds ridiculous.

It sounds ridiculous to you. To most americans it sounds fine.

australian accents sound ridiculous to americans... so u know, whenever you have time, go ahead and correct the way you speak please

I don't have an Australian accent  Never even been there. Again, this isn't an accent issue, it's a retard issue. You're skipping a syllable.

This angers me almost as much as saying "axe" instead of "ask."

Ex.
Correct: Did she ask you?
Incorrect: Did she axe joo?"

Oh... ohhh! You've hit on his pride.

It's like calling a Canadian (Canajun) an American (Amuhrkin).

That'd be a good line in a Horror film: Did she Axe you? THUD [hysterical screaming]
