Temperature Sensor Question

I am looking at getting this for my new system I am planning on getting soon. I would like the display to show the temperature of the cpu. Is the sensor able to go between the cpu and the hs/f assembly? Where would you suggest putting the other sensors and how to secure them so they do not move?

Don't put a sensor between the HS and CPU, you'll destroy the interface between the two. I've heard of some people placing a flat sensor so that it contacts the very edge of the core. I don't know what you'd use as an adhesive. You could also drill a hole in the HS itself and insert a bulb sensor into it. The first idea would probably be the better of the two.

The instructions that come with the temperature monitor will tell you where to place it. The monitoring hardware will then compensate for where you place it and adjust the temperature a few degrees. So you may end up getting a more accurate temperature if you place it on the side of the heat sink or between one of the fins where it won't obstruct the fan.

i tape mine on the bottom of the hs as close to the cpu as i can with out touching it. it's probably a good 3/8" away from the cpu though. i've seen those pics and peeps saying to put it as close to the core as possible, but i wasn't real comfortable with that. the mobo utility or everest will give you a reading anyway and then just figure in what to compensate on the sensor readng, mine is about 7c.

also, regular scoth tape will do fine and is basically what they ship with the unit anyway to attach the sensors. i used one on the cpu, one on the gpu, one on the warmest part of the system HDD and one on the PSU.

While searching some more on Thermaltakes site, I found these pictures showing them putting the sensor right under the CPU. Looks like a good place to get an accurate reading, but is that safe?

I'd like to think that since THEY say it's safe that it is. But frankly, unless the wires are VERY flat, it seems like they'll make the CPU ride up on one corner which will blow the thermal interface.
