Although 46c shouldn't beak anything, maybe your heatsink isn't good enough. What kind of heatsink are you using?

If your case temp is 28C or higher, it's about normal. My system runs at about 40C (CPU) and the case is 20-22C. I'm using a copper gladiator HSF.

yeah me too...
im running a 1ghz tbird on a k7s5a

my temps are... around 44c for cpu and 26c for case (with the case open)
oh and im running a regular old 18cm desk clip-on fan into the case :p

i broke my original fan for my svc golden gate so im using a fan that came with the volcano5
it's only 5000rpm... maybe that's not dispacing enuf air?

thx, looking forward to ur comments.

That's the thing with TBirds. You gotta have a Delta fan just to keep the temps under 40C idle.

well i have and SK-6... overclocked 1.2@1.418 mycase temps are 26C closed... and the CPU runs in the LOW 50's which to me is perfect for overclocking 200+ mHZ... if i get a delta i could drop those to...45 prolly :p

yeah that Delta fan was pretty good... (before I stuck my finger in it and broke the blades )

and do u think the "Arctic Silver" would be much better than the regular silicon grease stuff?

I'm usually sitting at 34-35*C with ambient temps of around 80*F. Heh, what an amazing difference it made when I took the side of my case off....dropped down to 29*. Tells me I need a big vent/blowhole in the side.

This is a T-bird 1.1 @ 1464 with an Alpha PEP66T.

ugh, here we go again.

Different MB's read socket-A temps differently. There's no way to cross-compare different MB's. Comparing across the Same MB remains extremely difficult, but can sometimes give you a baseline of "norm" temps.

Socket-thermistor "readings" on the norm can be anywhere from 5-10C off for a higher reading MB, to 15C-20C off for a low reading mb. its impossible to compare due to the differences of MB thermistor placement and Manufacturer implemented compensation.

That being said, Bthorny, what are you system temps (the other reading on an 8k7a). Depending on that, i'm gonna guess your temps are very much "normal" for a 8k7a.

As long as you don't exceed 65 for too long your fine. Even with full Geforce3 games running for several hours it maxes out at 55 on my system. High, but I only have a simple CoolerMaster heatsink and 2 extra system fans.

Well my system as of late has been maxing out at 51c when playing some graphic intensive games, with the other MB readings being 22c. I guess I won't be overclocking anytime soon maybe I should try dusting the case out??? I often should I use the aircan to dust the case out, and how far back should I hold the aircan???
