Hey,

Im a noob when it comes to this kinda stuff so...Ok, heres my situation. I just bought the Antec P160, and id like the 2 probes to monitor the temps of my CPU, and overall case temperature. The problem is where would I place the probes? For the CPU would I place it right smack-dab in the middle of the heatsink and CPU? or somewhere else? And for overall case temp, I dont even have a clue...the roof of the case? Thanks alot...

What sort of processor do you run? Usually you place the temp probe on the bottom side of the processor before installing it into the motherboard and then run the small wires between the pins.

On the Athlon XPs you could run the probe wires under the CPU and tape the probe itself right under the die (I do this with my Volcano 9 -- Smart and Silent my butt!!). Because of the number of pins on the Athlon 64s and because they use a mPGA package, there isn't enough room to do that. One thing though: do NOT put the probe between the CPU and bottom of the heatsink!! That will inhibit good contact between the surfaces, giving you a host of problems. You could try putting it between the fins of the heatsink.
