Hey guys,

I have three temperature probes that I plan on using in my case: CPU, NF4 northbridge, and ambient temp. What kind of tape or adhesive do you all use for you probes to avoid a big sticky mess later on? Thanks.

I used clear scotch tape for a probe on a HDD and on the PSU. I inserted the CPU probe between the heatsink (in my case the waterblock) and the cpu frame. NOT the chip itself. For a NB, wedge it between the fins.

Scotch tape doesn't leave behind any caked on residue or harden after being subjected to 35-50 C temps for a year or so?

Not sure about that; mine have only been on a few months. Probably does leave somekind of residue, when the tape dries and curls then comes off, but that won't happen for many years. Seems the average person upgrades more often than 2 years, so it's not gonna be a problem for most.
The residue could be cleaned off with Isopropol alcohol and that wouldn't affect the components.
