temperature on AMD X2 processor with Brisbane core

Lemon law

Lifer
I have a AMD X2 processor, specifically the 4000+ of the Brisbane variety.

Right now I am not overclocking it and probably have little need to do so, all my setting are basic stock, and as it is, my processor temperatures rarely show over 30 c
even under load.

I am now trying a variety of temperature monitoring programs, and all show different reading. And from what I have read on the internet, there is something in the design of the brisbanes that makes processor temperature monitoring difficult.

But since accurate processor temperature readings are somewhat vital for overclockers, I hope this is the right forum to ask how I get correct readings
on what my actual processor temperatures are?

Afaik CoreTemp is the best register of temperature readings. My X2 6000+ (Brisbane) is running at 28-32C idle stock clocks, 1.325V as opposed to 1.4V stock volts.

Elcs, Core temp may work well for you, but my 99.1 version without any tweaks now reports 18 C for core 1 and 12 C for core two. And taking the high reading, its some 15 degrees F lower than my current ambient house temperature. In fact, Core Temp shows the lowest of all my various temperature monitoring programs.

I am fairly new to investigating these issue, but have you done any tweaks to your core temp?

Donwloaded CoreTemp 0.99.1.... loaded it up, picked up my Cores... set my font size/colour/update rates and worked fine.

Usually Lemon Law, when in doubt.... use your Motherboard Manufacturers designated program as your mark. Its going to be accurate.

Once you have that stick in place, try CoreTemp, Speedfan, MBM? (duno if thats still alive), programs like AIDA32 and Everest. If any of those match up with the motherboard program, you are golden.

AMD CPUs do not go by Core Temp readings. They go by Motherboard readings. I found a document on AMD's site stating this a LONG time ago. I can dig it up if you want.
