Temperature Monitors

If I use Mainboard Monitor 5, I recieve temperatures about 7 degrees lower for my cpu, and about 4 degrees cooler for my system, in comparison to the utility sent with my mainboard.

Ever since I upgraded my bios, It seemed that my temperatures jumped. Once I get my enermax fan controller card, I'd like to mount a temperature probe on the cpu and see what temps it picks up. My mainboard utility & bios records 50 degrees at idle on my XP 2500, but I recall Athlon xp 2400s being pretty warm to the touch at 50, whereas my 2500 is cool.

My e-mails to MSI seem to have fallen on dead ears.

Do you trust a third party program more than the one bundled with your mainboard?

If you're not sure which to believe, you could always just test it yourself with a temperature probe. They're pretty cheap and handy to have around.

As a general rule none of the software tools are trustworthy beyond a point. They will give you an idea of your temps, but if you really want to know an external probe is probably the single best way to tell.
