Temperature difference of 5 C between cores

My dad kind of mucked around with the heatsink (AMD heat pipe version) when putting it on, and I think he might have messed up the gray thermal goo a little so that it ended up not being a stellar application. Is it likely this is the case, or is it just the sensors being off? This is at load. At idle, the difference is 2-3 degrees.

Another question:
Should I trust the voltage readings from Speed fan? Those things scare me.

As near as I can tell, there will be temp difference between the two cores. The first core will usually be a little warmer by a couple of degrees at idle, and who knows at load as both cores are getting used very dynamically. Sounds like you are fine to me.

Edited to say: don't put too much faith into SpeedFan or any other software tool for measuring voltages. Generally, these programs are pretty "off" along with the BIOS on the motherboard as well. If you want to know what the real voltage is, then use a volt meter to find out.
