Screenshot of Orthos, ATITOOL, cpu-z

I could not get one of the drivers for ATITOOL to install under vista64, but the only problem was that it did not show the clock speeds or the temp. I use the Everest Ultimate sidebar utility for showing the temps, the Nvidia driver for showing the clock speeds of the card, and orthos and CPU-z to show the processor.

Before I installed the HR03 cooler on the 8800TGTX, I was idling around 75C with the fan on low, and load it was around 80-82C with the fan on high.

ATI Tool was started at the same time that Orthos was, so it was running that test for about 48 minutes before I took the screenshot.

Vista thing, it had an error when I installed it, saying a driver could not be loaded, and ATITool would not show the temps or the clock speed. I think it is a vista64 driver thing.

I dunno about the 1000FPS, I never used that utility before.

So you dropped from 70C idle to 36C idle?

Or is that 36C load? Can't be.

I would venture to say ATITool is not working, if the GPU is showing 36C and you are only showing 500FPS in the 3dView. My 8800 GTX shows like 1000 in 32bit Vista.

Maybe find some other way to load it?

What would be more interesting, however, is your max overclock on Stock cooling (mine is like 607) vs. with the HR-03. With my 7900GT I went up about 25Mhz when I moved from stock cooling to a Vf900. Then another 175Mhz when I overvolted to 1.5v.

At any rate, good to know the HR-03 cools well enough to allow for overvolting.

Now WHY don't any videocard manufacturers pay attention to this fact and start slapping some decent cooling on them? Yeesh. $500 for a sucky cooler. Wake up folks!!

You can use Coolbits in Vista64?

I've been using Rivatuner, but it will only clock in large leaps.

I don't know about coolbits, when I installed the latest 64bit driver from nvidia all those options were present.

I have found another way to load it. I used the nvidia "Cascades" demo and ran it for two hours the first night I got it installed, and both the Everest Ultimate and the Nvidia monitor showed a max temp of 50C. I think ATITOOL may be a bit screwy too on this system. Said something about Kernel Mode driver not running. The ATITOOL test does run in the 1000 framerate range now that I reinstalled it last night.

I am not going to test overclocking on this card, I have no plans to play with that at all right now. Just going to leave it at stock, for now.

As of typing this it is idling at 35C though. Keep in mind I do have a 90CFM 120mm fan attached to that HR-03.

50C load - NICE!!

Plenty of room for some overvolting. Thanks for the stats. This confirms it for me. I'll be replacing the stock cooler - and probably with the HR-03.

Waiting for everything from Computex to finish up first - just in case.

I am using 64bit, which is why I think ATITOOLs does not want to work properly. I did reinstall it, and even though the same driver error comes up (not showing clock speeds or temps), the framerate is well over 1000.

I just put the HR-03 Plus on my 8800 Ultra here are my results:

Stock Fan: Idle 70C
Load: 85C

HR-03 with 92mm Nexus Fan: Idle 54C
Load: 74C

The fan itself is only 1200 rpm's and its dead silent. Pretty happy with the results. Just took forever to get the memory heatsinks on, they kepy falling off. I hope their on now for good..

I dont see why people get high temps with the 8800's all I use is Riva and set fan speed to 85% mine tops out at 72c under load.

Yeah, I heard that was an issue with the ramsinks, which is why I opted to go with Arctic Silver adhesive instead of the included pads.
