Temp question

I recently built a Duron 800 rig and now have it running 900 without messing with the FSB and the voltage is at 1.7. My Cpu temp was Idling at around 58. I put in another intake fan and got the idle temp down to around 39c. My question is after running say 4 straight timedemo's on Q3 the temp is at 55c but cools very quick. Am I ok?

Anything over 50C is pretty high, what heat sink fan are you using?

well, first off, the orb isnt' the best, but it is acceptable for your speed t-bird.

What mb are you using? is it an A7v?

He's using a Duron, not a T-Bird! I'd go with a FOP 32 from KD computers or crazypc.com.

i'd drop the orb completely, swap it w/ an alpha or so. make sure that the HSF is mounted properly w/ thermal grease and flat on the CPU, highly fluctuating temps are usually a sign that the HSF isn't mounted properly. i had roughly the same problem with my old alpha on a 700e chip- the temps went up and down roughlyu 15 C from idle to max load, when i reapplied the artic silver and alpha there was only a 5-10 C difference between idle and max.

YOu may want to try the $11 taisol cek733092... performs very well for hte price(better than both orbs).
