Microsoft added this ability some time back, if memory serves WDDM 2.4, but it seems Kepler still hasn't got it, yet newest drivers are WDDM 2.7.
A few things:
1) Same era GCN1 GPUs are still fully supported and display temp.
2) There are still products being released and sold using Kepler, so why Nvidia hasn't yet added this useful feature is beyond me.
Or you reckon its Microsoft''s fault?
P.S. I can check it using 3rd party software, but that's not the point, as you may have guessed.
