I have an Alpha heatsink and delta fan and Im currently using the grey heat tranfer stuff and I really want to use AS2. I have some already but Im nervous because I never leave well enough alone and I always get into trouble because of it. But what kind of temperature drops should I expect to see if I switch to AS?
thanks,

With those new high wattage t-birds, you should use arctic silver to ensure maximum heat transfer.

I don't think artic silver will drop your temps much in theory. That is, the substance itself isn't fundamentally much better than standard goop. However, it is much easier to apply AS2 in the correct way as to acheive the best thermal conduction between the HSF and the core. Thus, if you didn't do a great job with the normal stuff, then you will see prolly a drop of a few degrees celcius.

Heatsink and CPU lapping (only to 400 grit) along side AS II dropped my temps about 15-20 degrees C. I think the old goop was a bit smudged though, and my golden orb was a bit convex. Weird.

I have a Celeron 566@850, default voltage. Runs at just under 50 at full load now.
