Does anyone know why that the bios reads my cpu temp at around 70 to 75c, and Asus probe, Hardware monitor, and Compunurse Thermal Probe see's it at around 42 to 45c? I noticed that when I had the 1001E bios on here, the temp in the bios would flicker between 30c and 70c intermittanly. With bios 1001D, it doesn't happen. Now, 1001E came with the mobo, even though it is for the deluxe version and I have the non deluxe. I am using an XP2200+, with no overclocking. If anyone has an idea about this, please let me know. I would think this is a bios issue and not the true temp reading as with the 1001E, I had that fluctuation.

Is it possible you have the clip of your Volcano 7+ reversed? It's asymetrical and if it were reversed, the pressure point would be OFF the edge of the CPU core. That would still imply that the reading seen in the BIOS was some derivative of the on-core diode. I'm probably just rambling, but since the V7+ has to be assembled by hand, and it's possible to reverse the clip when doing so, I thought I'd throw that out. 70C is not an out-of-the-question core temperature for a Thoroughbred, if the reading were in fact a true core reading.

I know what you mean, but the clip is on correctly and so is the HSF itself. I don't understand. You would think that at least one of these temp probes would show similar results.
