Hello,

I have a new "wireless" internet service (only kind of broadband i could get since i live so far away from civilization)..... I'd like to know some of your ping times to any sites so that I can ping the same and see how good of pings i get vs cable/dsl.... my new wireless internet is suppose to be 5.5Mbps down and 2.5Mbps up....

Thanks!

Ping time would vary depending on traffic, time of day, how many hops I have vs you etc.

Would not necessarily be a good test

broadbandreports.com

go to tools and do some speed test...and yeah, that will test your connection speed

speakeasy speed test is good.

if you want to check ping times:
pinging google @ 22ms , 26ms, 23ms, 26ms
with 32bytes of data.

I'm on my laptop with my wireless router, pinging google, and get 26, 31, 28, 23... I assume it would be lower if I were on my desktop.

Thanks guys.... I own 6 acers of land (covered in tree's/wild life and my house) and got internet from this local ISP. I live about 10 miles away from the rest of the world (and cable/dsl) so it was satillite or dial up. When I talked to the company they said they would give me the fastest connection for free if I would let them install a 150 foot tower/bridge on my property and would connect me directly to there 5.4Mbps bridge (via cat 5e cable in addition to the 1.5Mbps wireless signal outside/inside my house so i have 2 options i can use at any time). I live on the highest point in my town so they help me with internet (and gaming speed) and in turn providing the internet company with a wider range for them to provide internet to additonal customers (because everyone in town can now look into the distance and see my tower on the horizon... so we both win.....

as for google.. i get 39ms..... it should get better as the company just installed the parts yesturday, they said they are coming back today to tweak the bridge and signal strength....
