I'd personally go for #3. Don't kid yourself, the X300 is bunk for playing games at any fun rate, especiallly at notebook native resolutions.

I've got a Dell 9300:
1.73ghz P-m
512mb DDR 2 Dual Channel
GeForce 6800 Go
40gb HDD
DVD-Rom Drive
9 Cell Battery

I bought it for school use and gaming on the go. I figured I could keep it plugged in at the Student Union at my Uni to play games inbetween my classes.

But when it's not plugged in it still gets 4ish hours of battery life, which isn't bad at all considering the bulk of the 9300. The thing hauls some serious but, and has replaced my second computer on my L-desk, because it can do everything so much better.

You won't need the extra 512mb of RAM for any office work, reallly, and it'd just be a bigger drain on the battery. And the bigger HDD on #3 would be a helpful tool, along with the DVD burner for file storage and organization.

I didn't click any of the specs but go for WSXGA if it's available.

I also agree that you should get #3.
