NeonBaroque.com

My gf's brother's site. Best viewed in IE.

Looking for opinions either from a standpoint of the web-design or presented artwork. If you have the time, you'll probably find the manifesto about his artwork (click "ab" for about, then "ar" for artwork) quite rewarding as I did.

Thx.

(Proudly still hosted on HostPC despite the recent hurricane-induced datacenter woes :thumbsup: )

When you click the picture to enter...it should enter and not open a new window.

Problems:
Splash page opens a new window.
Actual site has way too much blank space below and to the right.
Text box requires side-scrolling.
Black on brown doesn't make for the easiest read.
Links page totally unreadable in spots.

He's pretty much sold on the separate window scheme. That is probably the only part that bugs me somewhat. The links were just kinda thrown up there and forgotten, I believe...

What res are you running at where a text box requires side scrolling?? I'm at 1024x768 and need no such thing.

If I could trouble you to email me (see profile) a screenshot, that'd be a big help, thanks. I can't otherwise estimate how widescreen resolutions throw the formatting off.

Text

Super high JPEG compression, but it gives you an idea.

Throwing everything into a table and centering it vertically and horizontally would help.

Thanks. I still think it's Opera that's causing the text side-scroll for you, as even Firefox is working for me (minus the watermark in the text box) on a SPARC box running Solaris/GNOME at 1280x1024, a res which exposes the non-centering issue. The table is a good idea.
