I am putting together a new system, and I would like some feedback on it. Here are the parts I'm currently planning on using:

-Taisol CGK742092 w/ YSTech 60mm 27cfm Fan - Nerds Byte - $34
-Elsa Gladiac GeForce2 GTS 32mb - buy.com - $156
-8 Memory MiniSinks - Nerds Byte - $12
-2 Mosel Vitelic 128mb PC133 CAS2 7ns SDRAM Sticks - AnandTech Forum Member - $158
-Creative Labs Sound Blaster LIVE! X-Gamer 5.1 - Onvia - $85
-Antec SX1030B Full Tower Case - Onvia - $92
-2 P80L1A-4 Pin Panaflo Fans - TeamAwe - $20
-45GB IBM Deskstar 7200rpm 75GXP ATA100 - Onvia - $160
-AOpen CD-950E - MWave - $34
-Linksys LNE100TX PCI - MWave - $17
-Teac 1.44MB Floppy Drive - MWave - $14.50
-MS Internet Keyboard PS/2 - MWave - $19.90
-MWave Shipping - $12.45
-Logitech MouseMan Optical USB - AnandTech Forum Member - $25

I will run Win98 1st edition on it until all the apps I use are compatible with Win2k. I will add an Asus/Abit/MSI KT133A motherboard when they become available and probably a T-Bird 800 and OC it to 1Ghz or so. Are these prices good? Will there be no conflicts with any of the system parts? Thanks for your time.

Sounds like a pretty good system. I believe the IBM drive is available on buy.com a little bit cheaper. Use the $30 off $150 coupon combined with the free shipping that buy.com is offering for just a couple more days and you should be able to pick this drive up for $137.95. Better buy it before December 31, you only have a couple more days to get this offer. The coupon can be found here.

Oh one more thing, make sure you use the $30 coupon on a separate order for the Elsa Gladiac card, should lower your cost another $30.

Lastly, those memory minisinks are unnecessary. Memory does not generate heat really.

Mwave is a great vendor to do business with, and their shipping costs are very low. Always reliable and generally ahead of schedule from what they tell you. Good luck!

DevineM,

Memory on an overclocked GeForce sure does put out heat, why do you think the Pro and Ultra versions of the card come stock with HSs. In most cases, its because the card is overclocked from the factory. But anyhow, they do pump some heat :)

The RAM on the Ultra version of the GeForce cards are 6ns memory, slightly different than the card he's looking at. The GTS cards can be overclocked just fine without Ramsinks. I have mine running at 399 memory speed without a problem.

Yeah I am planning on OCing the memory on the GeForce, and since those heatsinks are only $1.50 and I'm ordering from there anyway I thought I might as well get them. Yea it's from Skorp, his ram is the same as John's right? Also, that GeForce is on backorder I now see :( looks like I'll have to hit the Hot Deal forum and try to find another place to get it. Thanks for your input everyone.
