Here are the parts I have:

Athlon XP2400+
512MB (2x256) PC2100
GF4 ti4200 (8x-agp)
2x ata100 HDDs (40GB, 80GB)
Lite-On 32x cdrw
Sparkle 300W PSU
Lian-Li Case

I want something that will work with the newer processors (XP3200+, etc.) for when they come down to around $100.

The only options I want are onboard sound and usb2.0; and stability is more important than any overclock abilities.

I'd like something <$100 and available at newegg or googlegear.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations, advice or opinions anyone can offer.

Look at the EPoX 8RDA+ or 8RDA. The + comes with LAN and better onboard sound and 2 additional USB ports (if you need more than 4!). You can get it at Newegg for about $110 (or less if it goes on sale). I am using that board now and it was the easiest build I ever did. VERY good board. Highly recommend.
