Tell me what encryption is....

Watched the movie swordfish and supposedly he breaks 128bit encryption which is supposed to be almost impossible to do -
Well my hushmail account has 2056 bit encryption-
Is this impossible then to be broken even by the best computers?

I think the key to breaking any sort of encryption is getting head while you're trying to.

opps, answered the topic q, not the q in the post

OK, the Swordfish scene is utter BS. 128bit Encryption cracked whilst getting blown and having a Gun to ur head is not happening.

Especially as he does it by typing(!) and does it in about 30 seconds. It took the DC RC5 project about 1.5 yrs to crack 64bit encryption with 100,000+ computers, AFAIK.

Read this book for a great into on cryptography. It is an excelent read and if you get the chance to see Simon Singh talk in person, he is great.
