Tell me, is this bad....

Just learning the ropes. I have a P4 1.8, 256K L2 cache, 400 mhz bus. Is this the crappy processor? I also have 512K RDRAM and the Radeon 9700 Pro.

I'd say your video card outclasses your CPU by a lot but it's not a complete mismatch. You'd be better served by a 512KB cache P4 Northwood 2GHz or faster IMHO.

Nope....The northwood 512kb of same 1.8ghz would likely gain a 5-10% gain in certain apps do to the cache...Also the northwood and the .13micorn process really allowed the p4 to ramp up and thus the willamette chip and the .18 process is really limited in terms of any ocing....

At stock a 1.8ghz willamette is equivalent to a AMD 1600+xp (1.4ghz)...the rdram on a non ocing platform is about the best you can go and ofcousre th vid card needs no introductions....

I would agree, that will work but before you upgrade your video card again because it's getting slower buy a faster CPU and see what that will do for you.

Thats not so bad. Of course, my XP 1700 benchmarks as fast (for most tests) as a 2GHz Willamette non-OC'ed.
