Tell me everything you know about cooking a lobster

I'd like to cook myself a lobster, and I want you guys to tell me some tips on how to do it.

I'd prefer to boil them I think. Do I kill it first, or stick it in alive?

What are the best type of sides to go with a lobster?

I just read How not to cook a lobster and thought it was kinda funny. How about you tell me some of your experiences as well 😛

live lobster into hot boiling pot. It doesn't get any easier.

But lobster is overrated. King crab legs are better.

i like to steam them best. if you do boil it... get this boil in a bag seasoning with it. put a few swigs of white vinegar in the water too. that will keep your place from smelling.
I like corn on the cob and beloved patriot potatoes with garlic and chives.

my mom taught me the chinese way of cooking a lobster:

1) pull off claws and legs
2) chop the lobster in 2 half (left and right half)
3) chop it in a large chunks
4) prepare chopped garlic, ginger, and scallions. mix well and add some oil.
5) lay the garlic on top of the chunks, put on large plate
6) steam over water until you see some water under the lobster chunks.
7) it should be ready if you can easily separate the meat from the shell.

enjoy.

This is a very tastey way of cooking lobster \o/

You can also use the same seasonings with some corn flour. Coat the lobster pieces in the flour mixture and stir fry it in a HOT wok. That really intensifies the taste.

you're right. do you need to add some corn starch into that garlic mix. as for salt, i'd use caution since the lobster itself would be a little salty.

1. Let lobster run around kitchen floor screaming while you boil water.
2. Put Old Bay in water.
3. Put lobster in water. Yes, they really do scream.
4. Enjoy!

I prefer shrimp or scallops to lobster.

Whenever I have prepared it at home, I always bought pre killed and shoved a skewer lengthwise through the tail so it would not curl when STEAMED.
Steam your lobster and steam your veggies.

Steam them. If you are within a few mins of the ocean grab up some sea water. We have done that a handful of times and steamed/boiled lobster in Sea Water was soooo good.

And yes you toss them in alive, its ok ... really 😉

I prefer them without the guts and sh!t. The best way is to kill it by stabbing it just behind its eyes and then when it's mostly dead, splitting it open from just above it's legs to the end of the tail and removing the guts. Always works for me.

Pretty much the same way you cook crawfish or crayfish, whichever name you prefer.

Large pot
Water
Beer
Salt
Some sugar
Lots of Dill

Let it boil together for a while.

Drop live lobster in pot - wait 5 to 8 mins.
Drain and let cool of a bit
Eat

🙂

Sea water FTW as mentioned before. Then you don't need to add salt.

There was a Good Eats episode on lobsters which was really good. I'm sure you can find the episode on torrent
