it's that time of year for a new mp3 player (round 3........).

don't tell me about your ipod, because i know enough about it, it's too expensive, and my primary of an mp3 player is while running or lifting weights - i.e. high impact usage.

Mine is a Rockford Fosgate RFX-9000 and you shouldn't buy it because it's a head unit for a car and that doesn't sound like what you're looking for. 😀

I've been looking for something similar to this as well. I would prefer a small flash device over an iPod. So far, the Samsung yepp 55V and the iRiver 390T are the two Im looking at.

Comments, suggestions?

Thanks

I have an iRock - forget the model. It has the 64MB built in and takes Smart Meida cards. It is very small, and very night. The cost is cheap (around $80) and you can get smart media cards cheaper than any other format since they are "outdated". I've had it for over a year now and love it.

Not really a big fan of media cards. Would prefer just having a larger internal memory. heh. Whats the largest size on a smart media card anyways?

My Sony Clié (PEG-SJ33) PDA plays MP3s from my Memory Sticks. I love it. It looks like they've discontinued it for a newer model (PEG-TJ35) which looks even better.

I guess it's a little expensive if you wan't only an MP3 player. Plus, if you don't already have Memory Sticks... you get the picture. I should add that the battery life is impressive.

iRiver 190t 256MB

Little, Light, FUNCTINAL FM RADIO (great reception), and the sound is just awesome.

I dont know if the 190t is still around, but iRiver makes an awesome product.

Bantam 350

Small (71mm x 54mm x 16mm), up to 256megs, light (64g including battery) , fairly tough construction. Would be easy to stash while working out.

Yeah, the 390T is the newest version of the 190T. Looks like they mostly just changed the styling. I think this is the one I'm going to go with, read lots of great reviews about it.
