Tell me about USB TV capture

We have a cheapo Dell laptop which I'd like to use to grab stuff from our Time Warner Cable DVR. I'll be recording the Tour de France daily, but would like to archive the stages to, say DVD. Any suggestions on a USB capture toy? TIA. (yes I searched for "USB" in this forum and didn't find enough info)

Do a search for ADS USB Instant DVD 2.0, it's a fantastic piece of equipment, I use it all the time... Excellent hardware encoding, lots of possibilities.
