When is the rainy season in Manila?
How miserable is it during the rainy season?

How are Americans treated?

No need to tell me about the food. I love it!

Not sure when the rainy season is. I went Dec - January and no rain. Philippines was beautiful. If you're American, you can expect some price gouging. Otherwise, everyone is really friendly and everyone speaks english.

Rains alot. Don't remember when the rainy season is.

Hot, humid, even more hot, wet. I mean, it's tropical what did you expect?

The amount of money you have (and spend) is directly related to how you will be treated.

ok, heres my account on experience of manila when i went there this christmas:

raining season = basically the months of summer here in the states
my cousins told me during raining season it basically rains every day. But i have never experienced it (i only go during the winter time).

my ancestry is filipino, but i am born and raised in NYC. When i went there it was obvious i was american. the most important thing is: PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOUR MONEY in your pocket. Since it was obvious i wasnt filipino, i was a prime target for pick-pocketers. While i was there, i got pick-pocketed twice.

the city: omg, the city is soooooooo polluted its not even funny. Its impossible to walk around because there is so much smog in the air. To breathe, you have to have a hankerchief(sp?) covering your nose/mouth. Also, it is very very crowed in the streets. ANd dont even think of driving there. Drivers there are crazy (and im from NYC, heh). Also, the traffic there is UNBEARABLE. To get anywhere in the city takes 2 hours, thats how bad it is. Just take a jeepney or tricycle if you want transportation

money: EVERYTHING there is dirt cheap. When my cousins and i went out to eat, a 3 course meal for 10 people cost less than $30 (maybe even less, i dont remember exactly how much). Also, manila is the cheapest city to get drunk, heh.

i dont know why u want to go to the manila, honestly, i think its one of most ugliest/polluted cities i have ever seen. the only reason i go there is because most of my family lives there. If i was you, i would only spend a couple days in manila and go straight to bagiuo (pm me if u want info on that city)

pm me if you have any additional questions

treated like a god, with money or without.

keep your wallet in your front pocket, and check for it with every sway of your arm while you walk.

price gouging may occur when purchasing stuff on the streets or by cab drivers (even jeepney drivers)

the rainy season isn't bad.

there's a TON of cheap stuff there.
you can get a leather suit custom tailored for you for less than 50 bucks.
you can get cartons of cigarettes for about 6 bucks

places to go, baguoi, boracay (tourist season has a lot of drunk and naked white people, off season has less white, more native...but still drunk and naked - this is also the most beautiful beach in the world), makati, tagaytay (volcano)

things to visit in the city - S&M Mega Mall (insanely huge mall), green hills (pirate mall)

things to do - eat lots and lots of philippine mangos. you won't find a better mango ANYWHERE. try the fresh coconuts from the street vendors, also try the filipino bbq on the street, and pan de sol from the local bakeries.
go snorkeling or scuba diving - philippines has the best reefs for diving, absolutely amazing.

nightlife - you can get a good meal, get drunk, and have 2 hot chicks rubbing you down all night for about 30 bucks.
white guys can practically get laid for free...but those aren't the girls you wanna keep.

I heard you can get great deals on old school Jordans, air force ones, and dunks.
A friend of mine came back with a suitcase full of them.

When you're there, get a barrel man. They're all the rage.

i have one thing to warn you about. you will get eaten alive by mosquitoes for the first couple of weeks there. after that, the mosquitoes won't be as attracted to your blood anymore.

QFT! Until I moved & got another number, my brother's would call looking for him twice a year. She would always call him on his birthday, and then again around July 4th. When she first called, I thought she was his gf. When he told me the real deal, I was:shocked:. When he told me what he paid, my jaw dropped. When he showed me pics of her, her beauty was stunning. She called for years, until I told her he was engaged.

Yes it is very dangerous. Do not venture that far South unless you know the area and locals very well. There are a growing number of muslim extremists who have populated that part of the country. They will not think twice about harming you for their cause. As long as you stay out of the south you will be fine. Have fun and enjoy yourself. You will find that it will be one of the most beautiful and friendliest places you will ever visit. :)

You don't even need much money. When my mom and dad brought me there, I was given a servant for $1 they said.
